Against the monks

An amateur team in the West of Ireland played a match against a team from the local monastery.

Just before the kick-off the visiting team, all of whom were monks, knelt down solemnly on the pitch, put their hands together and indulged in five minutes of silent prayer.

The monastery then proceeded to trounce their hosts 9-0. After the match the home team captain said,

'Well, boys, we've been out-played before but this is the first time we've ever been out-prayed!'
